Eno Field Trip

This month, it turned out that Hayden and Eliza both had field trips scheduled for the same day. I wanted to go on both, but of course that was going to be impossible. Luckily, Mother Nature intervened (by way of heavy rain and a TORNADO!). Eliza's field trip was still on, since it was only in the morning, but Hayden's had to be rescheduled for the following Monday. Hayden was going to the zoo and even some animal exhibits were going to be closed in anticipation of the bad storms and rain coming through! (It should also be noted that Jason was all ready to go to the zoo with Hayden, and then was very disappointed to miss it when it was rescheduled.)

Eliza's field trip was another excursion to Few's Ford for some nature exploration. You may recognize Few's Ford, we went back in April with friends, and in November with Eliza's class. This trip was much warmer than the others and a lot of fun for the kids. They all had such a great time wading all over the river, trying to find critters. I think the crayfish had been scared away by another class' trip earlier in the week because we were hard pressed to find any. But we did find a slug, lots of insects, and one (dead) crayfish. Then we moved upstream to the next access point for a picnic lunch and end-of-year presents. Lunch was eaten, presents passed out and we made it back to school just in time for it to start pouring!
