To celebrate the beautiful fall weather of this past weekend, we headed out to our favorite pumpkin patch to find some pumpkins for Halloween. Alas, it wasn't really warm enough for pumpkin hats, but we tried for at least the first couple minutes.

| Hayden says: Thanks for the new pumpkin hat Aunt Lori! I'll grow into it soon! |
| I'll take these two. You carry them Dad. |
We checked out the giant pumpkins on display first, and then headed out to the field to hunt for a good one. The girls liked checking out each pumpkin, commenting on it's size, and trying to sit on it. Molly wiggled to get off my back, and had a great time checking out these strange large orange things. I spent most of my time trying to get good pumpkin pictures!

| Last one there is a rotten pumpkin! |
| Somehow the view isn't better up here... |
| I call it, curls on a pumpkin. |
| Doesn't she look like such a big kid?! |
| Does it make noise if I bang on it? |
| She kept fussing till we put her on top and then she laughed. |
| Get this carnfounded thing off my head! |
| Much better. Now point me to the great pumpkin. |
| Aha! Found it! This will be mine. |
We also did our own version of punkin chunkin'! She loved it!
Eventually we decided that the ones in the field were just not going to work for us. Plus H and E were starting to complain about how hot they were - Eliza was ready to strip in the middle of the pumpkin patch, but we convinced her to just roll her sleeves and pants up. We managed one group shot by a pumpkin and then headed out of the field.

Back at the main market area, we checked out the ones on display and found a good one. We even found a pumpkin with Eliza's name on it!
| hmmm, so many to choose from |
| special pumpkin just for Eliza |
| This one we really did take home! |
We also managed one last photo session on the hay bales, before we
grabbed a couple baby pumpkins and a large cooking pumpkin, and called
it a day. Getting a cooking pumpkin (Indian River variety I believe) has become a family tradition - Hayden was all ready to pick one out, even before I said anything about it. And she wanted the biggest one she could find! I had to tell her that our oven wouldn't hold the pans needed to roast that much pumpkin at one time.

Happy Pumpkin Season! What pumpkin something are you going to make?!!

Sorry to have missed the trip to the pumpkin patch this year as it looks like everyone had a great time. Halloween is just around the corner, but you are ready!
